Durham Art Gallery: Comtemporary Canadian Art

Exhibitions

Along with the performances, screenings, workshops, residencies and all else that comprises this contemporary art festival, Common Pulse will be presenting five exhibitions dedicated to the theme of intersecting abilities.

Real or Perceived will include recent work that explores looking and hearing as activities that can span more than conventional sensorial models. Grahame Lynch invites us to scrutinize his work through a lens that modifies our perception. David Bobier will be showing recent images and interactive work that reflect his experience as the hearing parent of two Deaf children. (Read more...)

Altered Images, an exhibition of photo-based works from around the world, will be unveiled on the outside walls of the Gallery. Featuring Ilsun Maeng, Kurt Weston, Laura Swanson, Gwynneth VanLaven, Bruce Hall, Rahshia Linendoll-Sawyer, Matej Peljhan and Gus Cummins, the images create a narrative that breaks down established notions of "being normal."
